We are situated in the Anjou Bleu region, Paye de la Loire, which is in the North West of France, by the Loire Valley. The area is known as the Garden of France due to the abundance of vineyards fruit orchards and fertile farmland, which can be found along both banks of the river. Due to its well preserved historic towns, renaissance architecture, stunning chateaux and superb wines, UNESCO added the Loire River valley to its list of Word Heritage sites in 2000, making this region one of the top holiday destinations for visitors from around the world.

Our Gites are in the countryside surrounded by farmland. We are part of the small commune of Montreuil-sur-Maine. This little village itself is nestled on the western bank of the tranquil Mayenne river, Maine being the Anjou name for the Mayenne as it crosses the border and flows down to the mighty Loire.  The village has the shrine of the Réplique de la grotte de Lourdes, which has been a place of pilgrimage for decades.

We are a 5 minute drive from the local town of Le Lion D’Angers which is the crossing place over the river Oudon. This town has a large supermarket with petrol station, several restaurants and tabacs (bars), boulangeries (bakers), boucheries (butchers) and coiffers (hairdressers) as well as a range of bespoke shops. Le Lion D’Angers also has English speaking doctors, dentists, opticians and pharmacies.  It is also home to the one of the largest race-courses in France which each year holds many race meetings and events.
